2016 M20 J4 Bridge Strike
08/2016, the M20 (46.7) East Street F/B (foot bridge) @ E56594 / N15932 was struck. the bridge, opened in 1971 has 7 spans, 2 half joints and half its length collapsed following a strike – which appears unusual. More about the bridge construction is recorded here – ian53
11/2016, There is an intention to replace the bridgeCurrently, we are in the early stages of planning and looking into the possibility of building the new structure higher than the previous bridge,

13/01/2017 – Man due in court over M20 bridge collapse – click here to read more. The unidentified man has been summonsed to appear at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on February 17. As well as dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving he also faces three counts of criminal damage covering the bridge and damaged vehicles. 17/02/2017 – Man appears in Court; Alan Austen, 63, of Jedburgh Drive in Darlington appears in court charged with dangerous driving and criminal damage to the bridge, worth £1,500,000, a Hitachi excavator and a lorry truck and trailer worth together worth over £150,000. for more click here
